hailing from the same thames valley that saw the initial wave of shoegaze, violet oscillation is the creation of luca from pedal partners. they are releasing their debut single ‘a nation of pilots’ on september 30th. available on all major platforms, including an exclusive extended version for bandcamp only. independently produced & released, the track is mastered by slowdive’s simon scott. this debut single encapsulates various characteristics of luca’s signature sound, walls of reverb & delay - with the guitar as a centrepiece for melodic hooks & abstract free-forming textures.

an accompanying self-produced music video will be released at the same time, exploring the abstraction of violet oscillation’s sonic world. visuals are an integral part of violet oscillation’s work, with this accompanying music video integrating the nostalgic & abstract elements that are reflected in ‘a nation of pilots.’ encapsulating footage from their hometown of oxford, uk, alongside shots taking on an exploration of the american midwest, violet oscillation invite the listener to become the watcher, incorporating carefully selected elements both sonically & visually to create cohesive forms of escapism, worlds for those experiencing violet oscillation to lose themselves in.

violet oscillation produces culturally meaningful films drenched in their signature noise-rock sound as pedal partners, encouraging the growth of the shoegaze genre & the british music scene. this has included documentaries on radiohead, slowdive, my bloody valentine & shoegaze. violet oscillation releases new music weekly as part of this cross-permeation of sound & vision, but “a nation of pilots” will be their first single available on all major streaming sites on september 30th.

violet oscillation seek to continue the reignition of the shoegaze genre that begun with their work with pedal partners. crafting nostalgic melodies with rare almost mythical instruments saturated in the warm walls of noise. the only question, they ask is - how much distortion should you put on it?
